San Francisco designer Michael Vanderbyl has gained international prominence in the design field as a practitioner, educator, critic and advocate. His work embodies the bold, modern attitude and lifestyle that his designs reflect.

His showroom designs have received awards from Interiors magazine, American Institute of Architects (AIA) and American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). His graphic work is part of the permanent collections of the Cooper Hewitt Museum of the Smithsonian Institute, the Library of Congress and the museum Die Neue Sammlung in Munich. Vanderbyl also was part of a four-man show at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the first graphic design exhibit at the museum.

Vanderbyl holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from The California College of Arts and Crafts, where he is currently Dean of the School of Design. He has served as visiting professor at Cranbrook Academy of Art, Kent State University, and the Universities of Cincinnati, Kansas and Washington.
