This design features a pattern often used throughout Asian sculpture and inspired by the flowing robes of monks or Buddha figures. The repetition of the undulating robe folds creates an almost abstract pattern that is striking and sophisticated. The repousse work on this lamp is remarkably painstaking and difficult, making this one of the most technically accomplished pieces in Robert Kuo's repertoire. The lamp is topped by an ivory linen shade.
