About This Product

The Laura Kirar Maketto Barstool marries classic McGuire materials of rattan, caning and rawhide with the grace and design innovation of Laura Kirar. The design was inspired by various forms and materials collected on her recent journeys across the globe. Maketto is a Japanese word meaning "market," and was chosen to describe the shape and construction technique of the chair, which resembles a traditional market basket. Fabricated entirely by hand, the Maketto Barstool is clean in form and elaborate in material and technique. Available in all finishes and COM/COL. Brass, bronze or nickel covered front rail.

About This Collection

Image

Working with a mix of rattan, wood and antique bronze, Laura Kirar has created a transitional collection that exudes a harmonious balance of texture and proportion. Inspired by mid-century aesthetics, her design vision combines a deep appreciation for materials and craftsmanship, a rare passion for history, and thoughtful, contemporary executions. These contemporary pieces fit comfortably within McGuire's timeless design.
